Our Online Spring Force Tester shows you visually how much force and radial deflection (travel) in degrees you can obtain from your torsion spring safely. This is accomplished by running the spring design through our spring calculator to show true results. These numbers are true using our propietary software, Spring Creator X which gives accurate results. Please DO NOT subject your spring to go past the maximum torques or maximum deflection or travel in degrees. Please see: Note of caution on max. Safe travel (Deflection).

 

Max. Torque (MT)

Is the Maximum torque or force you can place on the torsion spring. If more torque is placed on the spring, the spring will deform and not return back to its original free position in degrees. Do NOT place or add more than the Maximum Torque on the torsion spring; For if you do add more force or torque than the Maximum Torque allowed, you will deform or possibly break the spring. Additionally It will not return back to its original free position in degrees and you will possibly bend the legs of the torsion spring.

Max. Travel (In Degrees)

Is the Maximum amount of safe travel or safe deflection distance in radial degrees that you can rotate or turn one leg of the torsion spring. If more radial deflection or travel in degrees is placed on the leg of the torsion spring, the spring will deform and not return back to its original free position. For this will cause a loss of Torque and possible spring failure.  Please read: Note of Caution on Max. Safe Travel / Max Deflection.

Just because there's room left to rotate the torsion spring leg further doesn't mean you should. You should NOT and CANNOT go past the Max Safe Travel distance / Max. Deflection in degrees; For if you do rotate the torsion spring leg further, you will deform or possibly break the torsion spring. Additionally It will not return back to its original free position in degrees. For this will cause a loss of torque and the torsion spring will fail to perform. Do NOT rotate the torsion spring leg past the Maximum Safe Travel Threshold.

The inner diameter shrinks on a torsion spring when the leg rotates. The inner diameter after deflection value is your torsion spring's New inner diameter, after the torsion spring leg has rotated or traveled that distance in degrees.
